This site takes no position on vegetarianism.

We think it works from every angle.

The original author is flexible about it.

Welcome to...

Farm/Feedlot Radios:

A Win-Win Solution

The Concept:

Give radios and boomboxes to animal farms to entertain the animals - everyone wins.

Who Benefits:

  • Animals - They should enjoy or be calmed by the entertainment and variety of the music.
  • Farmers - Happier animals means quieter, better-behaved and healthier animals.
  • Veggies & Flexos - Animal farming is a part of our world; happier animals will give animal rights folks one less thing to worry about.
  • Meat-Eaters - Happier animals are healthier; the meat should taste better and contain fewer toxins.

With farm radios in place, we can all enjoy eating a little bit more.

The Thinking Behind It:
  1. We're tired of the whole vegetarian squabble.
  2. If there's a simple compromise that shuts it down, we say, get'r'done!
  3. Science shows chickens and pigs are calmed by music.
  4. Donations can provide radios and kilowatt hours for farmers to do this.
  5. If it doesn't work out, we can always stop.

A sustained improvement in...

  • Vegan/Omnivore Relations
  • Animal Welfare
  • ...and Farm Conditions.

Here are some questions we've been hearing a lot.  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

  • Do animals like music?
  • Are you trying to force farmers to put radios in their farms?
    • No, our hope is the animals will be happier and it will wind up reducing prices or increasing profits, and the farmers will do it voluntarily.  If that isn't the case, we'll just keep doing this charity to get them in there.
  • Why not just support free-range meat?
    • It's inevitably more expensive and gamier than feedlot meat.  It won't replace feedlots.  Support it if you want, but we're trying to improve the feedlots instead.
  • Won't it make the meat gamey if the animals get excited by the music?
    • We'd suggest only play calming music a few times a day.  Also, animals don't dance.
  • Who is going to pay for the electricity to run a radio all year?
    • The goal is to give some of what is donated to farms for this purpose.  We don't want to increase prices for anyone, we are a charitable organization.
  • How much electricity does a radio use in a year?  What is the cost per ton of food?
    • We're working to figure this out.  Please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you know the answer!
Keep 'em coming!
